Welcome to La Source Tranquille, our oasis of calm in Mouy, France. We are located just one hour from Paris and 90 minutes from the Cote d'Opale in the north of France, and we are perfectly central being just 25 minutes from Beauvais, Chantilly and Senlis. Whilst our gîte is beautifully quiet we are just 400m from the village centre with its shops and bakeries. Our fully furnished, two double-bedroomed Gîte sleeps 4 and is available for rent from two nights to longer term. Completed in 2011 the Gîte offers high-quality accommodation with everything you could need for your home from home. Features include:

It was late this year but summer eventually arrived, and our new deck (2013) was ready for it. Now you can sit outside under cover and without getting muddy feet. With the Weber barbeque, badminton net and trampoline it's the perfect spot to enjoy those long, lazy summer days.

Beauvais Cathedral, the tallest cathedral in the world presents its story in a stunning 'Son et Lumiere' format three times a week from May to September. Starting just after sunset the 20 minute show uses images projected onto the facade to tell some of the story of the cathedral. It's free to watch and if you reserve in advance can be viewed whilst sat at one of the restaurants just outside.

La Fête des roses de Gerberoy est organisée par l'association loi de 1901 éponyme. Celle-ci est composée d'habitants de Gerberoy –un des plus beaux villages de France– et de ses alentours. Tous participent bénévolement pour faire de la Fête des roses un rendez-vous annuel convivial, chaleureux et festif !

It's been a harsh winter in the Oise; low temperatures and two three good periods of heavy snow. However, April is here and, in between the snow, we've managed to complete the deck for the garden. No more muddy feet when dining outside! It just needs some dressing now and a new covering; the last one didn't survive a particularly windy January night!    more ...

The town of Chantilly, just 20 minutes away from La Source Tranquille has announced its line-up of events for the Spring and Summer of 2013. This year Chantilly celebrates the 400th anniversary of the birth of Le Notre, the famed designer of the gardens of the Chateau de Chantilly. Numerous events will be held throughout the year in celebration.

We are now delighted to be able to accept bookings for 2013. We have kept our nightly rate the same at 100€ (as it has been since 2011) but changed the discount available for full week stays. From January 1st 2013 you will pay just 600€ for a full week stay, inclusive of all charges, linen and towels.

All of our bookings are handled by Gîtes de France, giving you the confidence of booking through a large organisation. This also means that we can accept credit cards and 'cheque cadeau'. You can reserve online for full week bookings starting on a Saturday or for weekend bookings starting on a Friday by clicking this link. As of today French law dictates that all motorists should have two NF approved breathalysers in your car. The penalty for being found without them is 11€, although this is apparently being waived until November. Here is the list of things you need to have in your car:

WHAT YOU NEED TO DRIVE IN FRANCE
• Anyone driving in France is required to carry a warning triangle and a fluorescent safety vest to use in an emergency. If a motorist carries the luminous vest in their boot rather than the main section of the car they can still be fined.
• British motorists must display a GB plate and have their headlights adjusted to the right.
• Drivers are not obliged to carry a spare set of lights, but if one of their bulbs goes and they do not have a replacement ready they can be fined.
• A fire extinguisher and first aid kit could also be required in the case of an emergency so not to fall foul of a law about assisting in the event of an accident.
• In January 2012 the French introduced a new law banning satellite navigation systems that show the location of speed cameras. Those caught can be fined 1,500 euros even if the device is not in use
• As of July 1st, 2012 you are required to have two NF approved breathalysers in your car.

We have just added an iPod dock to the stereo system so that you can now charge and listen to your iPod whilst downstairs, as well as in both bedrooms. This dock will also allow you to listen to music on your iPad too, although it can't charge it at the same time.

In addition we now have available a portable satnav for your use, loaded with some of the best tourist destinations in the area. We do ask you to sign a form taking responsibility for it but other than that it is there for your use throughout your stay with us!
